Personality: Asch rarely works well with others. Having spent seven years in isolation with his mentor, Commandant Van Grants, he has grown up believing that no one needs him and thus, he needs no one. Assisting others, albeit typically in a very gradual and begrudging manner, is not beyond him. However, he prefers to assist independently, which, when combined with his headstrong nature, often leads him alone into dangerous situations.

As a loner, making friends is difficult. Asch makes an effort to push others away, even if he admires—maybe even likes—the people he repels. He is quick to shout, usually giving unrelenting criticism to those around him, assuming he engages in conversation at all. After all, Asch prefers to be left alone and refuses to blindly trust those he meets. He prefers to brood, possibly as he reminisces bitterly about the life that was stolen from him.
Having received excellent education, Asch possesses a wide variety of academic knowledge. He also evaluates his surroundings well and tends to know what is happening around him. However, he is cursed with poor creativity and is incapable of arts such as improvisation and manipulation. Deadliest of all, he sometimes acts (or at least speaks) without thinking or will stubbornly embed himself in his ways of thought, thus offsetting his education. In other words, he may have a praiseworthy (yet not extraordinary) slew of knowledge, but he does not necessarily employ it when necessary.

Despite his unapproachable nature, however, Asch has several redeeming traits. Firstly, as indicated by his position of power, he takes his duties very seriously. Having learned about his responsibilities as the future king, he was resolved to end poverty, war and the like until he was kidnapped, thus eliminating any need to worry about the future of his country. Still, while he is not beyond breaking rules, Asch has a sense of righteousness that encourages him to do what he thinks is right for the world, even if it is at his own expense. Beneath his rough façade lurks a kinder person who wants to help his people. This side of him rarely manifests, yet he allows bits of it to show when he tries to do anything for his loved ones, even if he helps anonymously or from afar.

Still a noble's son, he has managed to uphold an arrogant personality. He often adds disparaging remarks or tones to his insults, especially when addressing Luke. Despite this, Asch suffers from an inferiority complex. He still dislikes the fact that his family could replace him so easily and therefore victimizes himself. Prior to his duel with Luke, Asch had stunted his own development as a person because of his fixation on his past. While he has begun to calm his volatile self-esteem, having begun to accept Luke after the duel, he still harbours some bitterness about the subject but has convinced himself to stand independently of his replica.

Fears: Asch, like most people, values his life enough to fear death. If he believes death is inevitable, however, he will willingly throw his life away, even if he would prefer to live. Still, he would be upset if he found himself in a losing situation against a monster. Of course, his training as a soldier has taught him to mask this sort of fear.

In addition to his instinctive fears, he worries about rejection by the few he loves or respects. After more or less being replaced by his replica, Asch has distanced himself from others for a reason: He does not want to endure the same devaluing of his character. As of right now, he needs to be needed. Without someone to rely on him, he feels entirely worthless.

Weaknesses: Asch’s stubbornness prevents him from changing his mind very easily. This stubbornness even trumps evidence—after all, he often refuses to listen to the other side of a story, as he assumes that he is right. In addition to this, Asch is extremely proud: He dislikes admitting if and when he made a mistake. Furthermore, he sometimes lets this pride cloud his judgment, causing him to charge blindly into a losing battle. While he does have enough sense to escape fatal danger, he usually receives his injuries through such actions.
Despite this apparent arrogance to his character, Asch suffers from an inferiority complex. As a child, he always believed that he had been replaced and that his loved ones did not value him as a person. Although he may claim that he is superior to his replica (this sort of talk has lessened ever since his duel) he allows himself to become a shadow to Luke when discussing the past. He tends to guard this weakness behind a pompous façade. While there is some truth to his cover due to his aforementioned pride, he occasionally reveals some insecurities about himself.

Biography: Asch grew up as Luke fon Fabre, the "light of the Sacred Flame," and the son of the Duke and Duchess Fabre. Everything seemed to go well for him: he grew up in a well-to-do environment, he was betrothed to the princess of his country, and he was chosen. The word “chosen” entailed many meanings. After all, he was the future king of Kimlasca. In addition to this, he was the prophesized boy known as the Scion of Lorelei. With a fonon frequency identical to the embodiment of the seventh fonon, Lorelei, he was destined for great power and great deeds. His intended adored him, his mentor praised him, and his future seemed extremely promising.

At the tender age of ten, however, he was torn from his lifestyle by none other than his beloved mentor, Van Grants, who kidnapped him and took him to Choral Castle. There, he endured physical and mental trauma as his captors produced a perfect replica. Luke was imprisoned, while his copy was left for the rescuers to find. Shortly thereafter, Luke escaped and returned to Baticul, but after managing to cross the borders between enemy countries, fight monsters, and sneak past hostile guards he arrived home only to discover that his family had accepted his infantile replica as a replacement without question. Feeling utterly unappreciated, Luke, now adopting the name Asch, "the charred remains of the Sacred Flame," returned to Van and trained as an Oracle Knight for the Order of Lorelei. Asch's skills in both swordsmanship and fonic artes enabled him to quickly become one of the Six God Generals with which he took the title, "the Bloody." He followed Van, the one person who seemed to want or need him in this world--that was, until he began to suspect a far fouler plot forming in the Order.

Around this time, seven years after his kidnapping, Asch met the replica who had adopted his identity. While the two felt mutual revulsion upon meeting, they shared a common goal, which forced them to cooperate to an extent. Luke and his party performed most of the overt actions, whereas Asch operated from the shadows. As time passed, the two slowly grew to accept each other a little more. However, Asch was never satisfied with his allegedly inferior replica and was infuriated when said replica no longer served as a replacement. Shortly before the final battle with Van, Asch challenged Luke to a duel in which the winner would face against his former teacher. Asch lost the fight and decided to hold off enemies as Luke continued with his traveling companions. The original fought well, taking out a platoon of soldiers before finally slowing down. Unfortunately, at that moment, a trio of surviving knights all ran him through. Between the myriad of injuries he had already acquired and these new stab wounds, Asch died shortly thereafter and passed on the rest of his strength to Luke in the hopes that his replica could finish the deed.

It was only after Luke's group defeated Van that Eldrant began to collapse. After everyone left Luke behind to release Lorelei, Asch fell down along with the rubble and landed in his replica's arms. Though still, pale, and initially unresponsive, Asch's hand began to twitch after Luke began to release Lorelei. His consciousness stirring, Asch was unable to see the outcome of this event and was only vaguely aware of what was going on. By the time he got around to opening his eyes, however, he found himself sprawled out at the foot of the Atlas' World Tree.

Abilities/Weapons:
1. Hyperresonance- A hyperresonance separates and reconstructs matter. While it is extremely powerful, it is also difficult to control. Asch is one of two people who can create a hyperresonance by himself—normally, two seventh fonists would need to collaborate to create one. Asch rarely (if ever) uses this technique, as it is not only dangerous but also inefficient: using it in battle would simply destroy everything—including the atmosphere—within his range.

2. Swordsmanship- Asch has trained in the Albert style of sworplay since he was a child. By now, his talents are great enough for him to become a God-General and take on the title, “the Bloody.” While he is not perfect (in fact, he leaves himself open for attack on multiple occasions) he is recognized as a deadly force. Between his experience, his talent, and his stamina, he is a worthy foe who knows how to win at all costs.

3. Fonic Artes (Magic)- Asch is also capable of using fonic artes, his world’s equivalent to magic. Despite his being a seventh fonist, he cannot use healing techniques. However, instead, he has learned high-tier spells. Right now, he has only mastered four, but he is capable of learning more with some training.

4. Cooking, sewing, etc- Asch may not be talented enough to seek a reputable culinary profession, but he is usually considered a good cook--good enough to earn him a job at the Blessenwood Inn for the time being. In addition to this, he is skilled at cleaning (especially laundry) and sewing. Whether or not he acquired these skills to counterbalance his fiancée's lack of talent in this domain is unknown.
